Salt Lake Teens Write In

We're seeking teens who will be juniors next year for Salt Lake Teens Write, a program the SLCC Community Writing Center runs in partnership with the Salt Lake City Public Library. Winner of the SLCC Innovation of the Year Award in 2011-2012 and a Top-10 Finalist Winner for a National Bellwether Award from the Community College Futures Assembly, this program pairs adults who use writing in a significant way in their daily lives and professions with underrepresented 11th grade teens. Together, the teams work on writing within a variety of genres throughout the academic year by meeting weekly in pairs, attending three all-group workshops, and producing a portfolio of writing. We have a training and a kickoff celebration in the fall, and a final celebration and publication at the school year's end.
