The Salvation Army is an organization that relies heavily on the assistance of volunteers. We could not accomplish all we do without the help of generous volunteers. Whether you want to volunteer weekly or monthly, we have volunteer opportunities for you – something for everyone. We are currently in the process of identifying volunteer opportunities for the 2014 summer season.
Summer Meal Program – The Salvation Army in partnership with the Utah Food Bank provides dinner for school age children. This is an 8 week program which operates Monday thru Friday. The program begins in June and runs through August. Food Handlers Permit needed. The hours of operation are 4:45 pm to 6:00 pm.
Kids Day Camp – This is a 6 week program which begins in mid-July through mid-August and runs Monday through Friday for approximately 6 to 8 hours daily. The program gives our youth ages 7 thru 12 the opportunity to hang out with other youth and educators within our community that have been specifically chosen to assist in educating our youth. Children who participate in our Kids Day Camp will take part in programs, field trips, social engagement and positive activities that benefit the growth of the child and the family. Will be asked to pass rigorous background check and be interviewed. 6 week commitment and need to be at least 18. Program dates to be determined.
Family Services – Is in need of volunteers, Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week. Family Services operates 9:00 a.m. -11:30 a.m. and 1:00 pm- 4:00 p.m. Duties will include; preparing food boxes, stocking shelves, or taking applications for assistance. Other duties include; answering phones, light filing and other duties as assigned. Communication skills are necessary for this volunteer opportunity. Volunteers must wear weather appropriate clothing; no open toe shoes and must be at least 18 years old. Groups under age 16 must be accompanies by adult.
Maintenance – We are always in need of volunteers to assist in our maintenance department. Needs are lawn care, building repairs, painting, cleaning and general maintenance.
Family Meal Program – Assisting in the delivery of nightly meals to families in need. Volunteers are needed from 1:00p.m. - 6:00 p.m. daily. Delivery of meals is 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (holidays not included).
Emergency Disaster Services – Emergency Disaster Service volunteers are on hand to provide food and drinks to the rescue workers assisting with natural disasters such as floods, fires, other catastrophic occurrences. Volunteers must complete EDS training and could be called at any time on an on-call basis. Volunteers must be prepared to work on the canteen trailer providing relief assistance to emergency volunteers. Duties will include food distribution, inventory control, and setup/tear down of EDS service site.
