Writing for Change: Community Writing Event at Main Library

Does change in democracy require civic dialogue? If so, where is it and who gets to talk? OR write? Join the CWC, libraries, and guests to learn techniques of writing for change, such as letters to editors and public officials. Come with a concern and stay to write a letter with the help of CWC writing coaches. Cost: Free, but registration is required.

Resumes and Cover Letters at Sorenson Unity Center

Whether this is your first time writing a resume or you already have one that needs tweaking, this workshop can help. To accompany your resume, you’ll need a cover letter that makes you stand out. Come learn the purpose, structure and tools to craft a well-organized resume and cover letter. Cost: Free, but registration is required.

Race: From Six Words to Six Hundred

What are your thoughts, experiences or observations about race? Based on Michele Norris’ The Race Card Project, writers will distill their thoughts into one six-word sentence about race and then turn that sentence into a longer piece. Join the CWC and learn to expand six words into six-hundred or more words of poetry, nonfiction, fiction or other genres. Writers can submit their work to the community anthology to be published in February.Cost: Free, but registration is required.
