CWC Teens Write Program

Salt Lake Teens Write is a program the SLCC Community Writing Center runs in partnership with the Salt Lake City Public Library. Winner of the SLCC Innovation of the Year Award in 2011-2012, this program pairs adults who use writing in a significant way in their daily lives and professions with underserved 11th grade teens. Together, the teams work on writing within a variety of genres throughout the academic year by meeting weekly in pairs, attending three all-group workshops, and producing a portfolio of writing. We have a training and a kickoff celebration in the fall, and a final celebration and publication at the school year's end.

Spy Hop Productions made a film about Salt Lake Teens Write, which is linked to our site and can be viewed here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8Vs2bUydRQ&feature=youtu.be The program was also featured on KUED's Contact: http://www.kued.org/?area=outreach&action=contact&day=2012-07-09SLCC's web site: http://vvww.slcc.edu/innovation/innovationcontest/pastwinners.aspx, and The Globe Student Newspaper: http://www.globeslcc.com/2012/07/11/mentors-needed-to-help-salt-lake-teens-write/ In addition, people can learn more about the program and download applications at our web site: http://vvww.slcc.edu/cwc/salt-lake-teens-write.aspx
