In 2008, Obama changed the face of presidential campaigns. Never before had the country seen such a person centered, grassroots approach applied to presidential race. Facebook, Twitter, and online donations changed the game. Regardless of your political alignment, 2008 was a monumental year.

The Thayne Center is committed to promoting civic engagement in all its many forms. While we do not officially endorse political candidates or promote partisan politics, we do stand committed to issues of social justice and community building for a healthy democracy. As such, heading into this busy election season, we will advertise any volunteer opportunities that our community partner organizations wish to present to the SLCC community.
