America Reads offers a way for you to earn your SLCC federal work-study award. The program hires enough qualified SLCC students to meet the literacy needs of our community partner elementary schools. SLCC students have a rewarding, community-based option through which to earn their federal work-study award.
If you want to earn your work-study award as a tutor, or if you want more information, attend oneof the following orientations:
- Monday, October 3, 1-2 pm, Taylorsville Redwood Campus, Student Center, Parlor B
- Tuesday, October 4, 1-2 pm, Taylorsville Redwood Campus, Student Center, Room 223, second floor
You'll only neet to attend orientation. There is no obligation to become an America Reads Tutor. The first half an hour explains America Reads, the second half an hour you can chose to fill out required SLCC hiring paperwork. Please bring your current drivers license, social security card and SLCC financial aid federal work-study folder.
