Community Writing Center

Who:
SLCC Community Writing Center
http://www.slcc.edu/cwc

The Community Writing Center (CWC) supports, motivates, and educates people of all abilities and educational backgrounds who want to use writing for practical needs, civic engagement, and personal expression. In addition to an open space available for writing, we provide opportunities to enhance writing abilities through such programs as Writing Coaching, Writing Workshops, the DiverseCity Writing Series, and Writing Partners.

What:
Salt Lake City Teens Write! The CWC will offer the Salt Lake Teens Write program
(SLTW) during next academic year. Imagine yourself as a junior in high school, not sure of your future, but one thing you do know is that you like to write. Now imagine yourself as a career person, who uses writing on a daily basis. Bring these two people together and you’ve got a new community writing program being offered by the CWC and the Salt Lake City Library.

At-risk teens (ages 16-17) will partner with adults who use writing in their careers in mentoring relationships for nine months. Meeting weekly, these writing teams will work together to develop strong writing skills and abilities in all types of writing: creative, professional, and academic.

When:
