Interested in ESL/ Education? Dual Immersion Academy = a great volunteer experience!
What? The mission of DIA is to provide a dual immersion curriculum in Spanish and English which: Creates students who are bilingual, biliterate and cross-culturally aware Challenges and stimulates students' academic growth Fosters positive identity, social responsibility, creativity, respect, courage and integrity.
Purpose: To help elementary and middle school students to do their homework after school when they cannot enroll in the after school program
Listen to the students read, help them understand what they read, help them with math homework, Science projects, etc.
Preferably fluent in Spanish and English
Service Times: Mo-Th, 7.30 to 8:30 am, 3:00 to 4:00 pm, Fr 3:13 to 4:15 pm
COMPUTER LAB ASSISTANT
Purpose: Help students use an adaptive computer program for English Learners Students whose first language is Spanish.
Under the supervision of a technical assistant, help students use and navigate the computer program Imaging Learning
Fluent in Spanish and English
Service Times: Mo-Th, 7.30 to 8:30 am, 3:00 to 6:00 pm
Purpose: To help elementary students improve their reading skills in English and/or Spanish language. Help students read. Ask questions about what they have read. Help them write about what they have read.
Service Times: Mo-Th, 8:.15 am to 3:00 pm. Fr 8:15 to 12:50 pm
SCHOOL CLUBS ADVISOR/ HELPER
Purpose: To help elementary and middle school students engage in sports and fun activities after school: chess, math games, singing, dancing, book reading, basketball, soccer, track, aerobics, etc.
Depending on the activity, help a teacher run one of the mentioned clubs one hour a week.
An interest in the club they want to help with.
Preferably some knowledge of Spanish
Service Times: Fridays from 1:15 to 2:15 pm Mo-Th 3:15 to 4:15 pm
