K-KIDS AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM
What? K-Kids is a group that meets every Friday afternoon. The goal is to provide children with disabilities, ages 7-12, Leisure Based Education Opportunities. Each week is a different activity.
Volunteers will: be helping the participants and staff during each event. You are needed to help the participants get excited about the activity and be a friend.
Requirements: Must fill out a volunteer application with the organization before volunteering.
When? Fridays @ 2:00 p.m.
DANCE CLASSES WITH INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES
What? Camp K is hosting a six week long dance program for individuals with disabilities. We need volunteers to come and help our participants have a ball! Come and dance with participants and encourge them to get excited about the activity.
Volunteers will: help participants learn a new type of dance every week. Encouraging the participants to participate and be excited about the event.
When? Thursdays @ 7:00 p.m.
CAMP K BOWLING LEAGUE
What? Volunteer to help participants with Disabilities bowl in a bowling league.
Volunteers will: help assist participants while they bowl.
When? Wednesdays @ 7:00 pm
ADULT SOCIAL CLUB
What? Adult Social Club allows adults with special needs, ages 18 and up, to expand their social circles, while learning how to use community resources. These weekly activities typically occur on Tuesday evenings and include a variety of events such as movies, live theater performances, nature hikes, concerts, dinner, dances, special events, canoeing, horseback riding, mini-retreats and exercise classes. The program is designed to assist adults in developing self-efficacy, leisure skills, independence, and interpersonal relationships.
Volunteers will: socialize with the participants: Talk to them, interact with them, encourage them and help them with small activity related tasks. The goal of this program is to expand participants’ social circles, while learning how to use community resources and offer a chance to socialize with their peers.
When: Tuesday evenings
What? allows adults, teens and kids with special needs to expand their social circles, while learning how to use community resources. Included on the monthly calendar are the activity descriptions for a variety of special programs and events. These include the following: Mini-Camps, Horseback Riding, Drama Club, Dances, Snow Adventure, Art Expressions, Movie Night.
What? Teen Quest is an exciting program for teens ages 13-17 with special needs. This program provides teenagers with an opportunity, at least once a week, to socialize with their peers, while addressing their individual needs. Activities occur on Friday evenings and include dances, movie nights, sporting events, snowshoeing/skiing, horseback riding, arts and crafts, and more.
