Commencement 2010

On Friday, 07 May, Salt Lake Community College graduated the second largest class in the history of the institution. To read more about the Commencement ceremony, click here.

The Thayne Center graduated the largest class of Civically Engaged Scholars ever. This student leadership program started about 10 years ago...and the Class of 2010 is our largest to date! Check out this article in The Globe, SLCC's student newspaper.

Here are a few pics from the big day:

Jean Young, a graduating scholar, was selected to speak at Commencement. She did an amazing job sharing her experience returning to SLCC as a non-traditional student. She spoke about her service-learning classes, our on-campus ESL Language Lab, Alternative Spring Break 2009 in Seattle, Washington, her trip to Little Rock, Arkansas and the impact the story of the Little Rock Nine had on her...all sorts of good stuff!

We actually hope to post her speech in full, so stay tuned.

For now...CONGRATULATIONS, GRADUATES! Good luck on your next big adventure.
