Announcing our newest community partner:
GOOD SHEPHERD HOMECARE & HOSPICE
The mission of Good Shepherd Homecare & Hospice is to help patients that are terminally ill. Good Shepherd needs volunteers to help support hospice patients. For SLCC students this is a satisfying way to balance studies with one-on-one time with an elderly person. A hospice volunteer will offer a terminally ill individual and their family personal companionship, socialization, and a healing presence.
A current need for volunteers involves an elderly man, widowed and limited by lung concerns, that would like a volunteer to come to his house late afternoons/evening and play guitar and sing. Visits would be about an hour and occur once or twice a month in the vicinity of the Millcreek Library. The volunteer will need some training prior to visit.
Interested in volunteering with this partner? Contact Daniel Judd at 801.277.6474 or firstname.lastname@example.org and check out Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice's website. Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice is located at 5383 South 900 East, suite 102.
VOLUNTEER WITH THE YMCA!
YMCA Healthy Kids Day 2010: 17 April 2010
As part of a nationwide effort to encourage kids to get moving, the YMCA of Greater Salt Lake will host a YMCA Healthy Kids Day, the nation’s largest health day for kids and families. YMCA Healthy Kids Day is filled with fun, engaging and creative activities that foster healthy living, and is a part of the YMCA’s larger efforts to help more kids and families become physically active. All activities are free and open to the public.
YMCA Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA of Greater Salt Lake will provide resources to help educate grown-ups about making healthy choices for their families every day. There will be activities such as a family fun run, hula hooping contests, jump roping, obstacle courses, and more!
The YMCA needs volunteers to help staff the Fun Run, Activity stations, Vendor/Sponsor tables, and help with general organizational duties on event day, 17 April.
